PlanetMesa is about getting everyone back to the table, which does not work if some people cannot reach the page. This is what is true of planetmesa.com today.

What this site does

  • Everything works with a keyboard. Every link, button, menu and form field is reachable in order, and the focus ring is deliberately loud — three solid pixels of brand yellow, never removed.
  • A skip link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.
  • Real structure. One h1 per page, headings in order, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), and lists that are lists. A screen reader gets the shape of the page, not a wall of text.
  • Motion is optional. If your system asks for reduced motion, every transition and smooth scroll on the site stops. Nothing here conveys meaning through movement.
  • Contrast. Body text, headings and buttons are checked against the page they sit on; the brand yellow carries dark ink on it rather than white, because white on yellow does not pass.
  • Text resizes. The type scale is relative, so your browser's font size and zoom both work, up to 200% without losing content.
  • Images carry alt text that describes what is in them — and decorative ones carry none, so they are skipped rather than announced.
  • Targets are big enough. Every button and link-as-button is at least 48 pixels tall.
  • It works without JavaScript. Every page reads and every link works with scripts off. Only the mobile menu, the announcement bar and the contact form need them — and the form degrades to a plain HTML submission.

Where we know it is weaker

  • This site has not had a formal WCAG audit by an external reviewer. We are describing what we built and tested, not a certification.
  • The game at play.planetmesa.com is a different thing with different challenges — a 3D table, camera and voice — and it is not covered by this statement.
